Well, well. Something has been cooking. Last week NVIDIAs CEO Jensen Huang took something major from the oven. The one and only DGX A100. What does this launch actually mean for people? It depends heavily on what are you actually doing. We will go through some of the announced features of this new beast.
This with only fraction of the power draw. System only takes 6KW of power, that’s also a major cost saving. A major saving indeed during the time, where we are trying to use less and less power to protect the environment and to save money.
Who then would benefit from this? The answer is quite many big businesses and governmental research institutes and universities. Also, now the singular cards can be split in to 7 different “cards”, and that is great, if you have multiple users doing tasks within bigger companies, or if you are building public cloud for instance. Also, if you are planning to do AI-training with huge amounts of data, and in the past, it could have been unfeasible, it now becomes feasible. This is not madness, this is NVIDIA!
