High Demand for Secure Storage Services – Clear Advantage over Public Cloud

Specialising in file and object storage, backup and recovery, and long-term archiving, the customer serves a demanding customer base for whom data confidentiality is paramount. The company’s services are trusted by more than a hundred municipalities and cities in Finland, as well as numerous organisations in the healthcare and financial sectors.
The customer provides secure, flexibly scalable data storage for companies and public administrations that want to protect their critical data effectively. All customer data remains securely stored in Finland and is accessible via scalable, software-driven CEPH-based storage platforms designed specifically for European customers.
“Our services are also used by organisations with critical IT systems and data-intensive operations, such as AI development and media production. We offer a domestic, secure IT infrastructure ensuring that our customers’ data stays in Finland and within EU regulations. Demand is growing across Europe as Finland is viewed as a highly secure location for data storage,” says a representative of the customer.
The representative also highlights the company’s involvement in international projects focused on resilience and critical infrastructure:
“The objective is to identify, test, and demonstrate solutions that strengthen operational resilience. We contribute highly reliable and resilient storage services.”
Massive Capacity – Ready for AI-Driven Growth
According to research estimates, artificial intelligence increases data volumes by 50–100% annually, and growth continues to accelerate. The customer currently offers a total storage capacity of 70 petabytes, which is remarkable by international standards.
Nextron has supplied the customer with server equipment and architectural expertise for several years. The company’s storage platform is largely built on servers sourced from Nextron.
“When making our purchases, we focused on cost-efficiency, expert support, and our partner’s ability to manage large-scale systems. We have worked closely with Nextron’s professionals for a long time, and they consistently ensure we use the equipment best suited to our production,” the representative notes. “The equipment has served both our own business needs and those of our customers exceptionally well.”
Reliable Deliveries in a Changing Global Landscape
“We delivered the required server equipment to the customer under a tight schedule, despite increasingly strict export regulations in recent years,” says Joonas Laitinen, Senior Sales Manager at Supermicro. “Obtaining a sales license now requires detailed information about the target data centre — where Supermicro’s equipment is exported, who manages it, and how it’s used. Going forward, deliveries to our customers will be even smoother. Our solutions also enable them to launch new services quickly.”
Secure Platform for AI and Data-Intensive Applications
As companies look to harness rapid advances in artificial intelligence to boost productivity, data security and efficiency are becoming increasingly important.
“We provide a competitive and secure environment for processing large data sets and applying AI. Our customers can work directly on our platform without transferring data, avoiding unnecessary costs. Our pricing is transparent, and there are no hidden fees,” the representative explains.
He also highlights the broader geopolitical context:
“Europe is seeking ways to secure data even in uncertain times. This means being able to distribute data cost-effectively and safely across multiple locations. Regulations such as NIS2 have tightened requirements for recovery and information security. Together with Nextron, we are developing innovative and ambitious approaches to future storage solutions.”
